Hi, there.

There is a remarkable Somei-Yoshino tree in front of the streetlamp near our office. They are in full bloom, and even people driving by can’t help but take a look at them. Together with the atmosphere of the stone street lamp, they are one complete scenery. It’s a good time of year when cherry blossoms are blooming everywhere. When I drove along the Takase river on my way to work the other day, I was fascinated by the view of the cherry blossoms, dancing in the wind and falling on the narrow river. The light pink petals in the afternoon sun are truly beautiful.

The Finishing Touches

I want to take more time to appreciate and talk about the beauty of the cherry blossoms, but I will move on to share the garden construction that is reaching its climax. Now, we are making fine finishing touches and retouching to create a beautiful space. The wooden trellis, that is lined up neatly, makes the façade (the front part of a building) look sharper.

We used the shaped woods, but because they are natural woods, they still have the warmth of wood. We take great pains to integrate things that will never change shapes, such as materials, and things that change shapes, such as plants and trees. Also, we painted them with a color that goes well with the exterior walls to create a sense of harmony between the garden and the building.

Inside the trellis, plants and gravel make the entire space harmonious. As the customer requested, we left the lawn that originally grew here and made it small square pieces to make maintenance easier. We combined the lawn with the garden path carefully so that only the lawn won’t stand out. The leaves of the deciduous trees are not unfurling yet, so we are looking forward to seeing the garden full of green leaves.

Since the building is a traditional Japanese house, we let the garden has a more Japanese atmosphere. We focused on the overall appearance of the garden, including the color, the view from the windows, and the building so that each space is not separated from the other but in harmony with the other. It’s crucial to consider a balance between the garden and the surrounding buildings in a limited space.

There is only a little work left to be done, and we will continue to work on creating a beautiful space until the end of the project.
