Stories We Tell -綴り-

Longing for the Arrival of Spring

Written by Yukari Matsumoto | February 03, 2022

Hi, there.

As the first day of spring has arrived, I can feel that flowers, plants and trees begin to move little by little. Tree buds are gradually swelling, and the plum buds soon will begin to open. Although the weather forecast says that it will snow over the weekend in Shiga, it is steadily moving toward warmer weather. There still will be some cold days ahead, but when I imagine colorful spring is coming, my heart sings.

Tree Transplantation

Creating a pleasant garden is our job, but also taking care of our customer’s precious trees and stones is our job too. We transplant trees so that they can enjoy their memorable trees and in their new gardens again.

This time we moved two large pine trees, stones and lanterns. A family requested us to transplant because they have been taking care of these trees for a long time and want to keep them even if they have to move them. Each customer has their circumstance, and some of them have to give up their garden when they move. And I could really empathize that they wanted to keep only their precious trees that have a lot of memories. We transplanted them, wishing them a happy new life in a new place.

The trees and stones have got a new place to grow once again. These trees have many years of history, and I believe they will be taken care of by the next generation as they live even more time in their new location. Such trees and stones are something that you can let go of easily, but you can’t get them effortlessly either. To inherit such valuable things is what interests me about this job.

I hope to continue to take care of someone’s precious things and work with an eye to the irreplaceable value hidden in them.
